Review by J. Antonio : Does What It Should
When I ordered the mount I was a little worried that it would be loose and have badly fitting parts. Not so! It is very sturdy and the slots for mounting span 16" so putting lag bolts into studs was very easy. The whole mounting process took only about half an hour. Just to see how strong it was I did a pull-up on the swing arm. No problem! I go about 235lbs, so it got a real work out. Because I was putting the flat screen in a corner I needed the long swing arm, and it worked out just perfect. It's nice to get a product that is economical and works - the first time!
Review by J. E. Atkinson : Works fine on SIPs
I installed this TV wall mount on an outside wall between two windows. Inside the house, of course. It came with a ton of mounting hardware to choose from. (Just what I need...a lot of extra screws and bolts to sit in my tool closet for the next 20 years.) The nice thing about SIPs, or structured insulated panels, is that you can throw your screws in anywhere on them -- no studs to hunt for. Just be careful to avoid electric chases in the walls. I watched my house being built so I knew where they all were. I was a little concerned about the OSB being strong enough to hold this monster-heavy unit, not to mention the 40-lb LED HDTV going on it, so I used all six mounting screws, spacing them out in the slots along the mount's back panel. Everything has worked fine. So if you have a SIPs house, rest assured you can use this unit on it. Taking a tip that I read online somewhere, I first disassembled all three pieces of the mount, put the wall part up first, then put the arm back on it, then put the TV part onto the TV, and finally hung the TV on the arm. Sounds easy, right? Well, this was actually a 3-person job, both because of the weight of the unit as well as the height we were mounting it at on the wall, between 4-5' up. I lured my nephew and his wife over for dinner, and then put them to work earning it. Actually he did most of the work while I helped, with his wife occasionally looking up from her magazine when asked to comment on the alignment, or to grab a tool. Putting the TV on the arm involved all three of us. Made the job go quickly and smoothly. With only two people, there would have have been some awkward, tricky moments and extra strain. Yes, I'm a woman, how'd you guess? I don't have a problem asking for help.Tip: To avoid sagging, all joints on the mount must be tightened once assembled. This makes the joints stiff, and closing the unit becomes a two hand job, pushing the TV back against the wall while holding it at the top and bottom rims.Tip: If you are centering the mount between windows, shelves, or anything else, be sure to center it while it's still assembled. The back plate that goes on the wall will be OFF-center. ...Yes, this is the voice of of experience speaking. We had to hang the thing twice. And now that you've read this tip, you won't have to!
Review by Joshua Schreiber "New to HD" : Great Wall Mount Purchase
I've had the swivel mount for a few weeks now and I'm so glad I purchased this model. It was an easy set up and does everything its supposed to. I was a little leary to put our 42" 60lb tv on it up in the air, but once we got it all set up it was the best decision I'd made. I was thinking of just buying an angled mount without the extension capabilities, but that would have been such a pain to get all the wiring hooked to and hidden behind the tv. With this set up we are able to make easy cable adjustments, and either pull the tv out, angle it further up or down and push it back to the wall to give it a more fit look. I strongly sugges purchasing this product and would buy it again if I needed to.
Review by Russell G. Phillips "BEe BOY" : Great selection no need to look any Further
I am a very skeptical purchaser and This product works great! I Just purchased a new LG 47 inch flat pannel from HH Greg and when I went to the section of mounting the LCD it cost at least 129.00 for just a cheap model to mount on the wall without the swinging arm. So I went on the web and found this product and started to read the positive feedback. I read many articals about sway and sag also difficulty on installation. The install took about 2 hours after the hardest part was finding the stud in the wall. The mounting hardware had more than enough with plenty more parts to put in my storage draw. It looks good over the fire place and is a nice addition to my area. The best price for something like this is at least $200 from Best buy or HH greg. I have no stakes in this manufacture just needed a few comments like this to believe that this is the one.
Review by Brian C. Dang : Works well, after deciphering poor instructions
The instructions out of the box made it seem that the box included two different sets of pieces, one set to attach to the wall, and one set to attach to the TV. One set of instructions had tiny diagrams that vaguely show how the pieces are put together, let alone which bolts and washers need to be used. The other set of instructions had text but the diagrams were vague. I had friends helping with the installation and they were equally confused. It reminded me of a "how many engineers does it take..." joke. In the end, we had to improvise some of the installation, but the box provided an abundance of nuts and bolts to get the job done. Once the 52" 60lb TV was installed, I was more than satisfied with the end result. The TV can easily be adjusted to any viewing angle I want, with barely any physical effort.
Review by Scott "Dartagnan" : Best Shelf for the price
This is the best shelf I could find for the price. If you want a shelf with a lot of adjustability this is the one. I have a 46" Vizio LCD TV mounted to it and it works great. Just a couple of things you should know. Make sure you tighten all bolts down at the time of assembly so that the mount does not lean or sag. Also the instructions are terrible. Actually they are practically none existant. If you are not mechanically inclined then this mount is not for you. I am a mecahnical engineer who does not usually read the instructions anyway so it was not that bad. One thing I did learn the hard way is that when you mount it to the wall do not install the front plate the TV mounts too until after you have it on the wall. Once the arm is on the wall then install the front plate and hang your TV on it. The bad instructions are the reason that I did not give it 5 stars.
