Review by Canon T-90 "M.A.V." : Super High Resolution/Poorly Designed Stand

The only reason for the 3-stars is the stand which prompted me to return the unit. The output is a razor sharp 800x480. When the stand failed just weeks after receiving it I was glad & disappointed all in the same instant. If your intention is to set it up and leave it its worth the money. Just don't move the stand in/out too often as the one I had broke internally making it useless.

Pros: Easy to use, Portable, Good Digital Reception, RemoteI got this TV for my wife. she likes to watch local TV while cooking. she also likes to be able to transfer TV to bathroom. I know that reception is location dependent. In our case we get clear over the air digital channels. 7" is a good viewing size for our setup. it was clear as a bell. Great Portable TV.

I dropped it to four stars as I should be able to get more channels out of it. I take the same antennae that came with the unit and plug it into a different brand TV and get more channels to chose from. Also, the plastic infra red sensor came lose after a month. Remote still works, but thought that the design of the plastic piece was poor.Now the good stuff. Contacted customer service and they told me the unit won't play videos from an external hard drive. Not true! As long as the hard drive is formatted FAT32 it handles my 250 gig bus powered simpletech drive filled with AVI files wonderfully. Sweet!

I wanted to buy a portable TV for hurricane season in South Florida. I had certain requirements based on my research of available choices. They were: 1. Can charge battery while on car charger 2. Built in radio 3. No permanently attached antenna. 4. Can play multimedia files (movies, mp3s) 5. High resolution picture. This unit fulfilled those needs. The resolution is 800x480. This is higher than many other portables being sold. The picture is excellent and very sharp. I confirmed with their customer service that the unit will charge on a car charger. Surprisingly not all portable TVs will. It will even charge while being used, just slower. I did not want a unit with an antenna that could not be removed. It's just one more thing hanging off the set. The only complaint I have is that the antenna included with this unit does not work very well. From all the reviews I have read about portables in general, most antennas are not that good unless you are in very close proximity to towers. I bought an inexpensive set of rabbit ears and it improved the reception. I can pull in 8 stations where I live and for my needs that is acceptable. I did connect the TV to my basic cable and it auto scanned all channels with great picture quality. The multimedia feature is nice. I can use a USB drive or SD card for music or movies. Of course I will load those up before a storm hits. I tested the battery life several times and on TV it lasts about 2 hours on a full charge. There is an on screen battery warning when power is low. Setup was not hard and there are a lot of features for picture settings and channel management. The included remote is very functional. Not too small and buttons have a good feel to them when pressed. The pull out stand for table use is a little odd. It is a stick that is very stiff to open and close. I can see why the other poster on this product had a problem. If you try to move it too fast, either opening or closing, it could break. But I think that a bit of care in its use and it will be fine. The unit came with a car charger, which some other brands do not. The FM radio works well. It does require the use of ear buds as that is the antenna for the radio. Over all I am very satisfied with this little TV. For some reason there are not a lot of reviews on this specific model even though it has been on the market for a while. As long as it stays reliable I would highly recommend it for picture quality and features.
